President-elect Donald Trump has selected former Texas Congressman John Ratcliffe to lead the CIA. Ratcliffe, who previously served as director of national intelligence during Trump’s first term, would be the first person to hold both top U.S. intelligence positions if confirmed.

Trump praised Ratcliffe as a “warrior for Truth and Honesty,” emphasizing his commitment to safeguarding Americans’ constitutional rights while maintaining national security. Known for his strong support of Trump, Ratcliffe was one of Congress’s most conservative members and voiced skepticism about the 2016 Russia investigation.

Democrats previously criticized Ratcliffe’s national security experience, viewing his appointment as primarily based on loyalty to Trump.
