Ghislaine Maxwell told the Department of Justice that President Donald Trump “never did anything” concerning in her presence, according to sources familiar with her nine-hour meeting with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche last month.
Sources told ABC News that Maxwell, currently appealing her sex trafficking conviction, volunteered for the interview and was questioned about “one hundred different people,” including Trump. Her lawyer, David Markus, said Maxwell “didn’t hold anything back” and “would welcome any relief.”
The Trump administration is now considering releasing the transcripts, as well as possibly the audio, from the two-day meeting. The public release could come as early as this week, according to officials. CNN was the first to report the possible disclosure.
Maxwell was recently transferred from a federal prison in Florida to a lower-security facility in Texas. Trump said he was unaware of the transfer and that any discussion between Blanche and Maxwell was “totally above board.”
Trump, who has not ruled out a pardon for Maxwell, emphasized transparency but noted concerns about protecting individuals who “shouldn’t be hurt.”
