Donald Trump Jr. accused the Biden administration of a cover-up Monday after a 2022 video resurfaced showing President Joe Biden referencing having “cancer.” The video emerged following Sunday’s announcement that Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.
In the clip, Biden, while speaking about oil refinery pollution in Delaware, said, “That’s why I and so damn many other people I grew up with have cancer.” Donald Trump Jr. claimed this supports suspicions of a long-standing health cover-up, writing, “Everyone was in on the cover-up! Who was running the country?”
However, then-White House spokesperson Andrew Bates clarified in 2022 that Biden was referring to previously treated non-melanoma skin cancer, as documented in his 2021 medical summary. Biden had several lesions removed via Mohs surgery with “clear margins.”
Despite Donald Trump Jr.’s accusations, he also posted a separate message wishing Biden a “speedy recovery.”
