President Trump is growing increasingly frustrated with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky over stalled peace negotiations with Russia, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters Wednesday. “The president’s frustrated; his patience is running very thin,” she said, emphasizing Trump’s desire to end the war.

Tensions escalated after Zelensky said Ukraine would not recognize Russia’s occupation of Crimea, a position Trump called “very harmful” to the peace process. In a Truth Social post, Trump criticized the statement and questioned Ukraine’s inaction in 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea.

Leavitt echoed Trump’s criticism, blaming the 2014 annexation on President Obama and insisting Trump is only asking for serious negotiations. She added that both sides must be willing to compromise to reach a deal.

Despite Trump’s prior claims he could end the war quickly, talks have yielded little progress. The president has warned the U.S. may abandon mediation efforts if no resolution is reached soon.
