President Donald Trump has fired several senior National Security Council (NSC) officials following a meeting in which far-right activist Laura Loomer urged him to remove staff she viewed as disloyal to his “Make America Great Again” agenda, according to multiple sources.
The firings followed Loomer’s presentation to Trump in the Oval Office on Wednesday. Attendees included Vice President JD Vance, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, and Presidential Personnel Director Serio Gor. White House NSC spokesperson Brian Hughes declined to comment.
Loomer, known for promoting conspiracy theories, had been vocal on social media criticizing some NSC members. She declined to comment on the meeting.
The dismissals come amid scrutiny of Waltz for his use of the encrypted Signal app to coordinate a March 15 strike on Houthi militants in Yemen. A journalist was mistakenly added to a Signal group that revealed sensitive operational details, including strike timing and aircraft used. Waltz accepted responsibility for setting up the group but claimed he did not know how the reporter was included.
