WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump announced he has removed Attorney General Pam Bondi from her position, naming Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche as acting attorney general.

Trump said in a statement that Bondi would transition to a role in the private sector, praising her tenure while confirming the leadership change at the Justice Department. Blanche, described by Trump as a “talented and respected legal mind,” will assume the role on an interim basis.

Bondi had faced growing scrutiny in recent months, including criticism over the Justice Department’s handling of matters tied to Jeffrey Epstein, as well as a series of legal setbacks in cases pursued under her leadership. The developments drew attention from lawmakers and led to a bipartisan congressional investigation.

The Justice Department has not issued an official statement on the change. Bondi, a longtime ally of Trump, had served as attorney general during a period marked by aggressive law enforcement initiatives and politically sensitive investigations.

The leadership shift comes as the administration continues to navigate legal and political challenges, with Blanche now tasked with overseeing the department during the transition.
