CINCINNATI, Ohio — President Donald Trump on Friday formally endorsed former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy for Ohio governor, calling him “something special” and declaring his “Complete and Total Endorsement.” The announcement came just days after polls showed Democrat Amy Acton leading the race and amid internal divisions within Trump’s MAGA movement.

In a Truth Social post, Trump praised the 39-year-old entrepreneur and Cincinnati native as “young, strong, and smart,” saying he “will be a GREAT Governor of Ohio.” Trump highlighted Ramaswamy’s conservative agenda, pledging that he would grow the economy, cut taxes, bolster manufacturing and energy production, protect gun rights, and ensure election integrity.

Ramaswamy, who previously served as co-chair of Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency alongside Elon Musk, left the administration in January to focus on his campaign. A political newcomer turned national figure during the 2024 presidential primaries, he ran on a platform emphasizing capitalism, meritocracy, and opposition to “woke” politics.

Despite Trump’s endorsement, some MAGA supporters criticized Ramaswamy, citing recent Republican losses in other states and accusing him of alienating parts of the base. Ramaswamy remains the frontrunner for the GOP nomination ahead of the November 2026 election.
