WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump defended Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in a 60 Minutes interview aired by CBS News on Sunday, saying the agency “hasn’t gone far enough” in its enforcement actions. The comments follow a wave of raids in cities including Chicago, Boston, and San Francisco that drew criticism from state and local officials.

When asked by interviewer Norah O’Donnell about videos showing agents using tear gas in Chicago neighborhoods and breaking car windows, Trump replied, “No. I think they haven’t gone far enough, because we’ve been held back by liberal judges put in by Biden and Obama.”

Pressed about deportations of nonviolent immigrants such as “landscapers and nannies,” Trump said, “Landscapers who are criminals, yeah,” adding that anyone who entered illegally must leave but can “come back into our country legally.”

Since Trump’s return to the White House, ICE raids have intensified in several “sanctuary cities.” Democratic governors Gavin Newsom of California and JB Pritzker of Illinois condemned the operations, while San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie warned the deployments would create “chaos and violence” rather than safety.
