President-elect Donald Trump announced the return of Peter Navarro as senior counselor for trade and manufacturing. Navarro, a former White House trade adviser, served a four-month prison sentence for contempt of Congress after defying a subpoena from the Jan. 6 committee. Navarro described his conviction as a “partisan weaponization of the judicial system” and said, “I went to prison so you won’t have to.”

Trump also revealed new appointments, including Michael Whatley as chairman of the Republican National Committee, Daniel Driscoll as Army secretary, Jared Isaacman as NASA administrator, and Adam Boehler as special presidential envoy for hostage affairs.
