Facing mounting pressure from MAGA allies, President Trump on Thursday directed Attorney General Pam Bondi to move for the release of grand jury transcripts related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. Trump called the case a “SCAM perpetuated by the Democrats” and said it should “end, right now,” citing the intense public attention on the matter.
Bondi responded on X, writing she is “ready to move the court tomorrow to unseal the grand jury transcripts,” subject to court approval.
The request comes amid GOP infighting and backlash over a recent DOJ and FBI memo stating that Epstein died by suicide and did not keep a “client list.” Bondi, under fire from some in Trump’s base, previously deflected questions by stating that the memo “speaks for itself.”
Trump recently denounced MAGA critics still focused on Epstein as “PAST supporters” and “weaklings.” Though the White House said it would not support appointing a special prosecutor, this move signals a response to internal pressure.
Grand jury proceedings are typically secret, and any release of transcripts will require approval from a federal judge in New York, where Epstein was originally indicted.
