In a “Meet the Press” interview, President Trump credited himself for recent economic gains while blaming former President Biden for lingering downturns.
“I think the good parts are the Trump economy and the bad parts are the Biden economy,” Trump told NBC’s Kristen Welker. While he acknowledged recent market volatility following his sweeping new tariffs, Trump said the country is doing well and claimed the tariffs will “make us rich.”
He insisted the U.S. economy is in a “transition stage” and suggested Americans must accept short-term pain. “They don’t need to have 30 dolls… they can have three,” Trump said, defending rising consumer costs.
The S&P 500 recently rebounded after a sharp post-tariff slump, aided by reports of possible trade progress with China. Despite that, Trump continues to label prior market instability as part of “Biden’s Stock Market,” asserting his administration has only just begun turning things around.
