President Donald Trump voiced support for vaccines Friday, diverging from Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has come under fire for restricting vaccine access for some children and reshuffling CDC leadership.

“They’re just, pure and simple — they work,” Trump said. “They’re not controversial at all. And I think those vaccines should be used.”

Trump’s remarks come after Kennedy limited eligibility for childhood vaccines and fired CDC Director Susan Monarez. The moves have drawn bipartisan criticism, including from Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), who warned the changes “will cost children their lives.”

Kennedy’s nephew, Joe Kennedy III, called for his resignation, calling him “a threat to the health and well-being of every American.”

Trump’s position marks a shift from his early skepticism about vaccines. He once promoted debunked claims linking them to autism but later championed Operation Warp Speed and said vaccines were a “medical miracle.”

The rift raises questions about Kennedy’s standing in the administration as congressional scrutiny grows.
