President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he supports the idea of giving Americans a share of the savings generated by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Speaking at an investment conference in Miami, Trump proposed a system where 20% of DOGE’s cost-cutting savings would be distributed to U.S. citizens, with another 20% allocated to reducing the national debt.

Trump argued that the initiative could incentivize people to report wasteful government spending, saying, “They’ll be reporting it themselves. They participate in the process of saving us money.”

On Tuesday, Elon Musk suggested the idea on his social media platform, calling it a “DOGE Dividend.” When asked about the plan aboard Air Force One, Trump responded, “I love it.” DOGE’s cost-cutting efforts have already led to mass layoffs of federal employees, fueling debates over the administration’s aggressive spending cuts.
