President Donald Trump endorsed the House GOP’s six-month stopgap funding bill on Saturday, calling it a “very good funding bill” and urging Republicans to unite behind it ahead of the March 14 government shutdown deadline.

“All Republicans should vote (Please!) YES next week,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, adding that the measure is necessary to “put the country’s financial house in order.”

The bill, crafted by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), proposes cuts to nondefense programs while increasing defense spending. It comes as negotiations with Democrats stall, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) warning that Republicans must pass the bill on their own.

Democrats, including Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.), have blasted the plan, accusing Trump and his senior adviser Elon Musk of using it to centralize power. “My Republican colleagues have handed power to an unelected billionaire,” DeLauro wrote on X.

Trump framed the vote as crucial, warning Republicans that Democrats “will do anything to shut down the government.”
