President Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to its lowest point of his second term, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday.

The survey, conducted Aug. 21–25, found just 37 percent of registered voters approve of Trump’s job performance, while 55 percent disapprove and 7 percent remain undecided. The net negative 18-point rating is his worst since January 2021, dropping four points since July, when his approval stood at 40 percent.

Trump’s approval rating has trended downward since he took office for his second term in January, when 46 percent approved and 43 percent disapproved. The August results mark both his lowest approval and highest disapproval levels to date.

Republicans remain strongly supportive, with 84 percent approving of Trump’s job performance, though that is down from 90 percent last month. Nine percent of Republicans disapprove, while 7 percent are undecided. Among Democrats, 98 percent disapprove of Trump, up from 95 percent in July. Independents remain skeptical, with 58 percent disapproving and 31 percent approving.

The poll surveyed 1,220 registered voters and carries a margin of error of 3.4 percentage points.
