President Trump has appointed television personality and author Dr. Phil McGraw to serve on the newly established Religious Liberty Commission. The announcement came during a Rose Garden ceremony at the White House on Thursday, held in conjunction with the National Day of Prayer.

Dr. Phil praised the administration, saying, “I can’t tell you how proud I am to see religion coming back to the White House.” He joins a panel that includes Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, former HUD Secretary Ben Carson, and New York Archbishop Cardinal Timothy Dolan.

Trump created the commission via executive order, directing it to enforce protections for religious liberty, identify emerging threats, and promote civic understanding of America’s religious foundations. The White House said Dr. Phil was chosen for his advocacy of traditional values, which he outlines in his latest book encouraging “faith, hard work, and independence.”

The move highlights Trump’s continued appeal to religious conservatives and his focus on embedding faith-based voices into national policy discussions.
