Former President Trump claimed credit for low insulin prices in a Truth Social post, stating, “Low INSULIN PRICING was gotten for millions of Americans by me, and the Trump Administration, not by Crooked [President Biden,]” adding that Biden “had NOTHING to do with it. It was all done long before he so sadly entered office.”

President Biden has praised the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which caps insulin costs at $35 for Medicare beneficiaries, as a significant achievement. “Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, instead of paying $400 a month for insulin, seniors on Medicare will only pay $35 a month,” Biden posted on X.

Ammar Moussa, a Biden campaign spokesperson, responded on X, quoting Trump and asserting that Trump “failed” to cap insulin costs. “Trump promised to cap insulin costs. He failed. President Biden took on big pharma, worked across the aisle, and capped insulin prices for millions of Americans,” Moussa wrote.

Biden’s campaign emphasizes lowering prescription drug costs through the IRA as a key reelection message. The campaign contrasts Biden’s success with Trump’s record, highlighting that Biden “took on Big Pharma” while Trump did not achieve a cap on insulin prices.

Biden campaign spokesperson Seth Schuster previously stated that if Trump were re-elected, “prices will skyrocket and Americans who are currently benefiting from $35 insulin may have to choose between paying rent and affording their essential medication.”
