Allies of President-elect Donald Trump voiced support on Sunday for Florida Senator Rick Scott as the next Senate majority leader. With Republicans securing a Senate majority, discussions on replacing outgoing Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell are underway. McConnell announced earlier he will step down at the start of the new term on January 3.

Scott, re-elected with Trump’s endorsement, has intensified his leadership campaign after Republicans gained four Senate seats. He told Fox News, “I’m going to win,” emphasizing support from Republican colleagues seeking change aligned with Trump’s agenda.

Numerous Trump allies expressed their support on social media. Florida Representative Byron Donalds, Senator Marco Rubio, Senator Rand Paul, and Senator Ron Johnson all endorsed Scott on X (formerly Twitter), stressing his alignment with Trump’s priorities. Former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Senator Mike Lee also voiced support.

The majority leader election, expected this week, will be conducted by secret ballot. Scott’s campaign highlighted his record of action and support for conservative values, arguing he is best positioned to advance Trump’s goals.

However, an Axios report noted Trump previously dismissed Scott’s bid, calling it “not serious,” though Trump’s campaign denied this claim. Scott faces competition from Senators John Thune, John Cornyn, and John Barrasso, with Thune viewed as the frontrunner.
