Former President Trump has agreed to a September 4 debate against Vice President Kamala Harris after the original debate with President Joe Biden was canceled. Trump announced on Truth Social, “I have agreed with FoxNews to debate Kamala Harris… The Debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated…”
The Fox News debate will take place in Pennsylvania, moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, with rules similar to Trump’s previous debates with Biden but featuring a full arena audience.
This decision follows exchanges between Trump and Harris, with Trump demanding Democrats finalize their nominee before he would agree to a debate, while Harris accused him of “back-pedaling.”
Trump questioned the necessity of debating Harris, citing his poll lead and saying, “Why should I do a debate? I’m leading in the polls. And, everybody knows her, everybody knows me.”
Harris officially became the Democratic presidential nominee on Friday, prior to Trump’s debate commitment
