The Trump administration has secured over $1.2 billion in settlements from top universities, law firms, media, and tech companies, with a potential $500 million deal with Harvard poised to be the largest yet, according to an Axios analysis.

Trump officials portray the settlements as accountability for institutions they argue are dominated by leftist ideology, DEI policies, and antisemitism. Critics, however, label the effort a form of coercion under government pressure.

Harvard sued in April after the White House froze billions in federal research funding, challenging the administration’s claim of civil rights violations. Though Harvard has signaled willingness to settle, it remains resistant to direct payments or external oversight.

The administration has also targeted major law firms, Paramount, Disney, and Meta, extracting settlements ranging from pro bono legal work to cash payouts. Paramount and Disney each paid $16 million, while Meta agreed to a $25 million settlement over Trump’s social media ban.

Some legal experts question the legality of the tactics. A judge recently raised constitutional concerns over funding freezes tied to ideological disputes.

The White House defends the strategy as a triumph of “tailor-made deals” that prioritize American interests.

Trump can point fingers and call our universities leftists, but the fact is, he and his administration are fascist, and doing extreme harm to our nation. I hope when he is out of office, he gets his just rewards.
