Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) predicted President-elect Donald Trump will issue a “blizzard of executive orders” immediately after his inauguration on Jan. 20. Speaking on CBS’ Face the Nation, Barrasso said, “There is going to be shock and awe with executive orders on the economy and the border.”
While executive orders bypass Congress, Barrasso, the Senate majority whip, noted Trump will also leverage the narrow Republican majority in Congress to enact his agenda. “The No. 1 goal is to get his team in place,” Barrasso emphasized, expressing confidence in Trump’s nominees and his role in securing their confirmations.
Barrasso stated Trump is focused on achieving results regardless of the legislative process. “He doesn’t care if it’s one bill, two bills, three bills. He wants the results,” Barrasso said. The remarks highlight Trump’s early focus on swift action through both executive orders and legislation.
