Texas Democratic Rep. Al Green announced plans to introduce articles of impeachment against former President Donald Trump after he suggested the U.S. should take control of Gaza.
“The movement to impeach the president has begun,” Green said on the House floor, condemning Trump’s remarks as “dastardly deeds.”
During a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump proposed that Americans oversee Gaza’s rebuilding but provided no details on governance. His statement followed last month’s Israel-Hamas ceasefire.
Democrats, including Green, denounced the idea, calling it “ethnic cleansing.” Green criticized both Trump and Netanyahu, saying, “Ethnic cleansing is no joke.”
Green, who helped initiate Trump’s first impeachment in 2017, reaffirmed his commitment, urging public support: “The people have to demand it, and when they do, it will be done.”
