Temu has stopped shipping products from China to the U.S. in response to a new executive order from President Trump that went into effect Friday, ending a key tariff exemption for low-value imports. The change ends Temu’s use of the “de minimis” loophole, which allowed packages under $800 to enter the U.S. duty-free.

Temu has now limited listings on its app and website to products stocked in U.S. warehouses. A company spokesperson said all orders are now handled by domestic sellers and fulfilled “from within the country,” adding that pricing will remain stable and U.S. merchants are being actively recruited to the platform.

The executive order ends a cost-saving advantage that platforms like Temu and Shein used to deliver cheap goods to American shoppers. Critics argue the loophole hurt domestic retailers, citing Forever 21’s recent liquidation as partly driven by this competition. Supporters warn that eliminating tariff-free imports will lead to higher consumer prices.
