Rep. Lauren Boebert has obtained a temporary restraining order against her ex-husband, Jayson Boebert, after alleging threats of harm and unauthorized entry into the family home. The conflict adds to the ongoing disputes between the two, with a potential for the order to become permanent at an upcoming hearing. The order aims to protect both Congresswoman Boebert and their three younger sons.
Lauren Boebert, known for her far-right stance and support for Donald Trump, recently relocated districts from Silt to Windsor, Colorado, partly attributing the move to family issues. The restraining order follows a publicized January 6 altercation in a restaurant, where Jayson initially accused Lauren of assault, a claim he later withdrew. The incident led to Jayson Boebert facing multiple charges, including disorderly conduct and obstructing a peace officer.
Jayson Boebert, learning about the restraining order through media, claimed his entry into the home was for cleaning ahead of a family visit and maintained his innocence regarding the restaurant incident. He suggests the restraining order is being used by his ex-wife to rationalize her district move.
Further complicating matters, Lauren Boebert cited a January 9 physical altercation between Jayson and their 18-year-old son, during which Jayson allegedly armed himself and fled. He faces charges related to this incident as well, though he has not directly addressed these allegations.
