A new NBC News Stay Tuned Poll released Friday found that 38% of U.S. adults believe neither the Democratic Party nor the Republican Party is fighting for people like them, signaling growing dissatisfaction with both major parties.
Only 24% said the GOP represents their interests, while 23% said the same of Democrats. Just 15% of respondents agreed that both parties are working for their constituents.
Pessimism was especially pronounced among younger voters, with 41% of those aged 18–30 and 45% of those aged 30–44 saying neither party is fighting for them. Among self-identified progressives, 38% felt unrepresented by either party, compared to 23% of those aligned with the MAGA movement.
Third-party voters and nonvoters from the 2024 election expressed even greater disillusionment, with 69% and 47% respectively saying neither party fights for them.
The poll surveyed 19,682 adults between April 11–20, with a margin of error of 2.2 percentage points.
