On Friday, conservative media personality Steve Bannon, during his “War Room” program, accused Republican lawmakers who support former President Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement of being influenced by big donors. Bannon, Trump’s former White House chief strategist, called for investigations into the criminal proceedings against Trump, who faces four indictments on state and federal levels. Trump and his supporters claim these cases are politically motivated.

Bannon criticized House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, and House Speaker Mike Johnson for insufficiently supporting the MAGA cause. “Where are the subpoenas? Where is an investigation? Why are people not being held accountable?” Bannon questioned, suggesting that big donors prefer politicians like Nikki Haley, whom he criticized for being backed by wealthy contributors like LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman and the Koch-backed Americans for Prosperity Action.

Bannon told Newsweek that the House Judiciary Committee should issue subpoenas to those allegedly conspiring against Trump. He insisted that the MAGA movement would not allow “a gang of Marxists” to control the republic.

Jordan’s office responded, stating that “no one supports President Trump more than Jim Jordan.”
