Three people, including the child responsible for the attack, were killed in a shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, on Monday. Police Chief Shon Barnes confirmed the death toll had risen to five, with others wounded, though details about the victims were not released.
Responding officers did not fire their weapons, and nearby roads were closed. Federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives joined local law enforcement at the scene.
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers expressed his condolences and praised first responders, stating, “We are praying for the kids, educators, and the entire Abundant Life school community.”
The nondenominational school has about 390 students, spanning kindergarten through high school.
