Country music star Sheryl Crow announced she is donating proceeds from selling her Tesla to NPR, criticizing Elon Musk’s role in President Trump’s administration. “There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla,” Crow wrote on Instagram, sharing a video of the car being towed.
Trump has renewed calls to defund NPR and PBS, arguing they have a liberal bias. Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), also pushed for their defunding, stating, “It should survive on its own.”
Crow condemned efforts to weaken NPR, saying, “Money donated to @NPR, which is under threat by President Musk, in hopes that the truth will continue to find its way to those willing to know the truth.”
Meanwhile, the FCC has launched an investigation into NPR and PBS, questioning whether underwriting announcements violate federal laws against commercial advertising.
Democrats have raised concerns over Musk’s growing influence, while Republicans reportedly fear political backlash if they oppose Trump’s agenda.
