Several U.S. government documents tied to President Donald Trump’s recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin were found abandoned in a hotel printer, NPR reported Saturday.
Eight documents, apparently from the State Department, were left at the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage, near Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, where Trump and Putin held their summit Friday. Some papers contained sensitive material, including phone numbers and names of three U.S. government staffers, along with precise summit times and room locations at the base.
Other documents were less sensitive but still revealing, such as a seating chart for a canceled lunch between the two leaders. The White House has not yet commented on the breach.
The disclosure comes after a three-hour Trump-Putin meeting in Alaska, which Trump described as “a 10.” While no deal was reached on ending Russia’s war in Ukraine, both leaders said progress was made, and Trump announced plans to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday.
“It’s good when two big powers get along, especially when they’re nuclear powers,” Trump said. “We’re No. 1 and they’re No. 2 in the world.”
