Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) reaffirmed his decision to certify President Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory, stating on ABC News’ “This Week,” “I will stand by that decision and the next decision to certify the fact that Donald Trump will be the next president of the United States.”

Despite being on Trump’s shortlist for vice president, Scott’s stance may conflict with Trump’s preference for those who deny Biden’s win. Scott, along with Sen. Marco Rubio, has avoided questions about certifying the 2024 election but later clarified he would “certainly” vote to certify it. In 2020, both senators voted to certify Biden’s win, unlike 147 Republicans who opposed the results in at least one state.
