The U.S. Secret Service announced it will fully cooperate with probes initiated by President Joe Biden and Congress following a gunman’s attack that injured former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania rally over the weekend. The FBI is investigating the incident as an assassination attempt.

In a Sunday statement, Biden ordered an independent review, while Republican lawmakers promised swift investigations.

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, in her first major statement since the shooting, confirmed enhanced security measures for Trump and the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, starting Monday. “I am confident in the security plan our Secret Service RNC coordinator and our partners have put in place, which we have reviewed and strengthened in the wake of Saturday’s shooting,” Cheatle said.

The agency has revised Trump’s security detail to ensure his protection during the convention and the remainder of his campaign. Trump, who sustained a graze to his ear, is doing fine and traveled to Milwaukee on Sunday, where he is expected to receive his party’s formal nomination this week.
