Rutgers University professor Mark Bray, known for his research on antifascist movements, is temporarily relocating to Europe following threats linked to a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) student petition that labeled him “a prominent leader of the antifa movement on campus.”

The Rutgers TPUSA chapter’s petition, launched weeks after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, called for Bray’s firing and accused him of promoting political violence in his book Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook. Bray denied the allegations, stating, “I am not now, nor have I ever been, part of any antifascist or anti-racist organization… I’m a professor of the history of the left.”

Bray reported receiving renewed threats following Fox News Digital coverage and posts by far-right commentators. Rutgers officials confirmed that they are “gathering more information” and have expressed support for his academic freedom and safety.

Despite accusations, Bray maintains that antifa is not an organization, saying, “It’s not terrorist either. It serves a narrative they’re trying to promote.”
