Rep. Deborah Ross (D-N.C.) will not accept campaign contributions from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee during the 2026 cycle, her office confirmed. Ross, who has received more than $100,000 from AIPAC since 2022, follows Rep. Valerie Foushee (D-N.C.) in distancing from the lobby amid pressure over U.S. policy toward Gaza.

“Congresswoman Ross is not currently accepting AIPAC contributions,” a spokesperson said, clarifying the pledge applies through 2026. Activists who met with her office in August urged her to also co-sponsor the Block the Bombs to Israel Act, which would restrict U.S. weapons sales to Israel. Ross has not said whether she will sign on.

The decision comes as North Carolina Democrats remain divided. In June, the state party narrowly passed a resolution calling for a U.S. arms embargo on Israel until it ends its occupation policies. Party caucuses across faith and community groups backed the move.

Ross, elected in 2020, joins a small group of Democrats who once accepted AIPAC support but are now breaking away. Progressives hailed her shift as evidence of a broader change inside the party.
