Robert F. Kennedy Jr. narrowly aids President Biden while hurting former President Trump’s chances in key battleground states, a recent survey found. Polling from Mainstreet Research, PolCom Lab, and Florida Atlantic University revealed Trump leading Biden in head-to-head races in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. However, Biden gains the lead when Kennedy is included.
Kennedy, an independent candidate, is not currently on the ballot in either state, which, along with Michigan, is crucial for Biden’s reelection hopes. In Pennsylvania, Biden trails Trump 45% to 43% head-to-head but leads 41% to 39% when Kennedy, with 8%, is an option. In Wisconsin, Trump edges out Biden 41% to 40% in a two-person race, but Biden leads 38% to 31% with Kennedy taking 13%.
In Michigan, Biden is at 41%, Trump at 39%, and Kennedy at 11%. Both Trump and Biden are at 45% without Kennedy. The survey sampled 2,068 voters in these states from May 30-31.
Both Democrats and Republicans fear Kennedy’s impact on their chances in November. Pollsters and operatives see Kennedy as an unpredictable factor due to his support from younger and independent voters, making the race highly fluid.
