On Monday, a Republican National Committee (RNC) panel approved a draft party platform ahead of next week’s convention, aligning with former President Trump’s views on abortion. The platform committee passed it overwhelmingly, with a final vote set for Tuesday.

The platform, consistent with Trump’s positions on trade, immigration, and foreign policy, eliminates specific language on traditional marriage and limits on abortion. Trump campaign advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles described it as a vision to “Make America Great Again.”

The platform’s language on abortion is notably vague, despite anti-abortion activists urging a strong stance. It references the 14th Amendment, emphasizing state rights to protect life and liberty. It opposes late-term abortion while supporting prenatal care, birth control, and IVF.

Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, Trump has faced political attacks. He supports states enacting their own abortion laws, calling the process “a beautiful thing to watch.”

The platform mirrors Trump’s campaign promises, including mass deportation, preventing “World War Three,” ending electric vehicle mandates, excluding men from women’s sports, and addressing government weaponization.
