Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a former presidential candidate and potential appointee in a future Trump administration, announced that Donald Trump would recommend ending the use of fluoride in U.S. public water systems on “day one” if re-elected. Kennedy, known for his anti-vaccine stance, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that fluoridation leads to health issues like bone fractures, cancer, and neurological disorders.
For years, U.S. health regulators have endorsed fluoride in drinking water to combat tooth decay, citing its low-dose use as safe and effective for oral health.
Trump’s campaign did not immediately comment on Kennedy’s statements. However, both Trump and Kennedy have indicated that a Trump administration would give Kennedy a significant role in health policy. At a recent rally, Trump said Kennedy could “go wild” on health issues, while Kennedy has said Trump promised him control over key agencies, including Health and Human Services and the Department of Agriculture.
