NEW YORK, NY — A leaked Justice Department memo described in a report by investigative journalist Ken Klippenstein on Democracy Now! is generating national discussion over how federal agencies may redefine domestic extremism investigations. According to the program, the memo—allegedly issued by Attorney General Pam Bondi—directs the DOJ and FBI to compile a list of organizations considered potential domestic terrorism threats based on political viewpoints involving immigration, gender issues, and criticism of U.S. policy.

Klippenstein told the program the document appears tied to President Donald Trump’s NSPM-7 directive, which sought a national strategy to identify and disrupt groups the administration believes could contribute to political violence. He said the criteria described are broad, noting they include opposition to immigration enforcement, support for “mass migration,” and sentiments described as anti-American or anti-Christian.

The program also reported that the memo instructs the FBI to re-examine five years of internal intelligence, expand public tip-line operations, and offer financial rewards for information. Democracy Now! emphasized that its reporting relies on a leaked memo provided to Klippenstein, and no additional outlets have independently verified the document’s contents.

At this time, no major Center, Left-Center, or Right-Center news organizations have published their own reporting on the memo or confirmed its authenticity.
