Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-Mich.) filed articles of impeachment against President Trump on Sunday, accusing him of multiple constitutional violations.
Thanedar’s charges include obstruction of justice, abuse of executive power through unlawful deportations, abuse of trade powers through tariffs, and violation of First Amendment rights by retaliating against journalists and lawyers. The filing also cites the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia without due process.
“Trump’s attacks on due process, birthright citizenship, humanitarian aid, and the courts are not politics — they are a direct attack on our democracy,” Thanedar said on social media.
While the articles represent growing Democratic frustration with Trump’s second term, the effort is unlikely to succeed in the Republican-controlled House and Senate. Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) has also said he plans to introduce separate articles.
Trump has faced heightened criticism in recent weeks over his immigration policies and new tariffs, prompting legal and political challenges across the country.

I’m glad he filed for impeachment, but I don’t think it will go very far. Maybe try again next month.
