Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) lashed out at California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday after the Democrat posted a photo of her with a cannabis business executive tied to a recent federal raid. The feud began when Fox News reported that Glass House Farms, a California cannabis company, had ties to Democratic donors. Newsom responded on X by highlighting that Kyle Kazan, the company’s co-founder, has supported Donald Trump and even donated to Newsom’s recall.
“Sure is rich for Fox News and the Trump Admin to point to campaign donations to Democrats,” Newsom posted, attaching a photo of Kazan posing with Mace.
Mace, who has supported cannabis legalization, retaliated with a fiery post attacking Newsom over crime, invoking right-wing targets like George Soros and accusing the governor of letting “mrderers, rpists, and p*dophiles” walk free. She also challenged Newsom to a debate.
However, online backlash followed, with critics calling her rhetoric hypocritical given recent DOJ findings that debunked key Epstein-related conspiracy theories—claims that some MAGA supporters have used to justify similar attacks.
As of Friday afternoon, Newsom had not responded to Mace’s challenge.
