Representative Dave Taylor (R-Ohio) has issued a condemnation of an image that appears to depict a swastika incorporated into a U.S. flag displayed on the wall of his office in Washington, D.C. In a statement released on Wednesday, Taylor characterized the image as “vile and deeply inappropriate,” affirming that it “does not reflect the values or standards” upheld by his staff or himself.

Taylor announced that he has initiated an internal review in conjunction with the Capitol Police, who have confirmed that an investigation is currently underway. Reports from The Hill and Politico indicate that the image began circulating online following the sharing of a photograph by an Ohio political blogger, which depicts a staff member posing in proximity to the altered flag.

This controversy emerges against the backdrop of heightened scrutiny of the Young Republican National Foundation, following the disclosure of group chat messages that revealed racist, antisemitic, and violent remarks made by several members. Numerous governors, including Gavin Newsom (D-California) and Phil Scott (R-Vermont), have called for the resignation of individuals within the organization.
