Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki said she never witnessed signs of President Biden’s mental decline while working in the administration and pushed back on suggestions there was a cover-up by aides.
Speaking on Semafor’s Mixed Signals podcast, Psaki said, “I never saw that person… that was on that debate stage,” referring to Biden’s widely panned debate performance against Trump in June 2024. Psaki left the White House in May 2022.
She called the term “cover-up” “loaded” and compared it to criminal or war concealment. Psaki said she hasn’t spoken with former colleagues featured in recent books about the 2024 election fallout but insisted most are “good human beings” who wouldn’t hide Biden’s condition.
Biden dropped out of the race shortly after the debate, sparking public debate over when his mental decline began and whether aides concealed it.
