President Joe Biden has promised a firm response following a deadly drone strike in Jordan, which resulted in the deaths of three U.S. troops. The attack, attributed to Iranian-backed militant groups, occurred near the borders of Syria and Iraq. Biden, speaking in South Carolina, held a moment of silence for the fallen soldiers, expressing sorrow and determination for action.

The incident, described by the Pentagon as a “one-way ‘suicide’ drone attack,” represents the first U.S. combat fatalities in the Middle East since the Israel-Hamas conflict. The strike, also injuring over twenty U.S. service members, has heightened tensions in the region.

Biden, along with Vice President Harris, received a detailed briefing from their national security team. In his comments, Biden conveyed deep condolences to the families and friends of the deceased, emphasizing the nation’s shared grief over this “despicable and wholly unjust attack.”
