The pope stated such plans unfairly burden the impoverished, adding, “This is not how things are solved.”
Francis has previously criticized Trump’s stance on immigration, notably during the 2024 presidential campaign, while also rebuking Vice President Kamala Harris for her abortion position. He described both issues as being “against life.”
A staunch advocate for immigration, Pope Francis has repeatedly emphasized its alignment with human rights and biblical teachings. In August 2024, he condemned those deterring migrants, labeling such actions a “grave sin.” His comments reflect ongoing tensions over immigration policies in the U.S. and Europe.
