A new poll commissioned by the Democratic super PAC Unite the Country shows the Democratic Party is facing serious headwinds as it seeks to reconnect with disillusioned voters. Respondents frequently described Democrats as “woke,” “weak,” and “out of touch,” even as dissatisfaction with the Republican Party remains high.

Internal party disagreements and limited influence in Washington have contributed to voter frustration. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Democrats remain united in challenging Republican policies, but his messaging—such as boasting about renaming the “Big Beautiful Bill”—has drawn mockery, including from The Daily Show.

Rodell Mollineau, an adviser to the PAC, emphasized that Democrats must acknowledge and respond to how voters perceive the party. “You have to meet voters where they are,” he said.

Unite the Country CEO Steve Schale said the party must focus more on economic concerns to win back white male and minority voters, noting past Democratic leaders like Clinton and Obama succeeded by blending economic messaging with social advocacy.

Despite setbacks, the poll also found voters widely associate Republicans with terms like “corrupt” and “racist,” signaling opportunity if Democrats can unify and sharpen their message.
