President Trump receives stronger approval on immigration than on other issues, but a significant portion of Americans believe his policies have gone too far, according to a new Associated Press-NORC poll released Friday.

The survey found that 46% of U.S. adults approve of Trump’s immigration actions, while 53% disapprove. His approval rating on immigration is roughly 10 points higher than his favorability on the economy and trade, both at 37%.

Nearly half of respondents, 48%, said Trump’s deportation policies have gone too far, compared to 32% who said they are about right and 18% who felt he hasn’t gone far enough. Reactions were sharply divided along party lines.

Policy-specific responses showed the least support for revoking student visas, with 47% disapproving. Trump’s administration recently reinstated over 1,000 student visas following legal challenges.

The poll surveyed 1,260 adults from April 17–21 with a margin of error of ±3.9 percentage points.
