A new poll by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research and USAFacts reveals that 67% of Republicans trust former President Donald Trump and his campaign for accurate information about the November election, compared to 51% who trust the government’s certification of results. Among Democrats, 87% trust government certification, and 82% trust Vice President Kamala Harris and her campaign.

Overall, about 7 in 10 Americans express at least moderate trust in government certifications. Trust in election integrity has declined, particularly after the January 6 Capitol insurrection. A January poll showed that over half of Trump supporters lacked confidence in accurate ballot counting.

Trump continues to claim that the 2020 election was stolen, despite multiple courts, including the Supreme Court, rejecting these allegations. He faces criminal charges in Georgia and Washington, D.C., related to attempts to overturn the 2020 results. Trump and Harris are set to face each other in an upcoming debate, with Harris leading slightly in recent polling.

The poll surveyed 1,019 adults between July 29 and August 8, 2024, with a margin of error of ±4.0 percentage points.
