A new AP-NORC poll reveals that only 29% of Americans approve of President Trump’s “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE), chaired by Elon Musk. While 39% disapprove, 12% remain neutral, and 19% are unfamiliar with the advisory body, which aims to tackle federal inefficiency, corruption, and red tape.
Support is strongest among Republicans, with 58% in favor, but significantly lower among Democrats and independents. Musk, a prominent Trump ally, holds a 52% unfavorable rating, with 36% of respondents viewing him favorably.
The poll highlights widespread concerns about government corruption (70%), inefficiency (65%), and red tape (59%), issues DOGE seeks to address by cutting over $2 billion in federal spending. Originally co-led by Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, the latter has exited to focus on an Ohio governor bid.
Most respondents (60%) oppose Trump relying heavily on billionaire advisors like Musk for policymaking.
