A new YouGov poll reveals that while the public feud between Donald Trump and Elon Musk dominates headlines, most Americans prefer not to choose sides. Only 28% of respondents sided with Trump, and just 8% backed Musk, while more than half chose neither.

Among Republicans, however, 71% said they would side with Trump, compared to 12% who chose neither and only a fraction for Musk. Meanwhile, 80% of Democrats rejected both.

The rift comes after Musk abruptly broke with Trump over the controversial “One Big Beautiful Bill,” a massive spending measure he had once supported. Trump questioned their future relationship, prompting a flurry of personal attacks from Musk, including posts suggesting Trump is linked to Jeffrey Epstein and calls for his impeachment.

Despite the harsh exchanges, Politico reports a potential phone call between the two may happen to ease tensions. Musk has also softened his tone, walking back a threat to suspend the Dragon spacecraft’s NASA operations.
