A new AP-NORC poll shows only 3 in 10 U.S. adults support Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s nomination as Secretary of Health and Human Services. While about 6 in 10 Republicans approve, only 1 in 10 Democrats do.
Kennedy’s positions, including reevaluating childhood vaccine recommendations and altering fluoride and raw milk guidelines, face opposition. However, his stance on reformulating processed foods is more widely accepted.
During his confirmation hearing, Democrats criticized Kennedy’s vaccine skepticism. His cousin, Caroline Kennedy, urged senators to reject him, calling his views “dangerous.” The survey found 4 in 10 Americans oppose revisiting vaccine guidelines, while 3 in 10 support it. Republican support is stronger but not overwhelming, with 4 in 10 in favor compared to 2 in 10 Democrats.
The poll of 1,147 respondents was conducted Jan. 9-13, with a margin of error of ±3.9 percentage points.
