President Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 38%, down from 41% two months ago, according to a new Pew Research Center poll.
The survey of 3,554 adults found 61% disapprove of Trump’s tariff policies, pointing to rising prices. His “Big Beautiful Bill,” which extended and expanded his first-term tax cuts while cutting Medicaid, is also controversial: 46% disapprove, 32% approve, and 23% are unsure.
Confidence in Trump remains firmer on trade and immigration, with 47% expressing some confidence in his ability to negotiate trade deals and 46% saying the same for immigration.
The administration’s handling of Jeffrey Epstein-related files, however, is drawing scrutiny across party lines. Sixty-three percent of respondents say they do not trust what the federal government has said about the case, including 53% of Republicans.
More broadly, 53% believe Trump is making the federal government worse, compared to 27% who say better. Among Republicans, support has dropped: 55% now say he is improving government, down from 76% after his inauguration.
Overall, Trump’s approval among his 2024 voters has slipped from 95% in February to 85%.
